Research Education for Undergraduates (REU) Program Program Dates: May 29, 2007 - August 10, 2007 (Vacation Dates July 2-6, 2007) The Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing (CHN) will host about 25 students for the 2007 Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates program. The summer REU program includes 10 weeks of CHN-related research supervised by faculty at one of CHN’s partner institutions. Weekly meetings of all REU students offer professional development activities, including participation in the 6th New England International Nanomanufacturing Workshop and learning about educating the general public at the Boston Museum of Science.
The goals of REU program are: · Increasing the awareness of the importance of science and technology; · Motivating students, particularly women and under-represented minorities, to become interested in and better prepared for careers in science, math, engineering, and technology; · Preparing students for careers in research and in manufacturing related to nanotechnology. The students are in the laboratories from early June to mid August. Students, as individuals or in collaboration with other undergraduates, conduct research under the guidance of their advisors, other professors, graduate students, and post-doctoral researchers. Additionally, the student participates in a CHN joint-University professional development seminars, tours, and social activities.
