The Industry Day Showcase is an event hosted by the NSF Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing (CHN), and provides a venue for members of the Center to present their research to industrial representatives, as well as an opportunity for members of CHN to network and interact with both members of industry and their fellow colleagues from the other universities.

Industry Day allows companies with a vested interest in nanotechnology to familiarize themselves with the ongoing research being done at CHN, and gives them the opportunity to explore membership possibilities. Membership in the CHN enables companies to support the cutting edge research being conducted by the tri-University CHN through a tax-deductible corporate donation. As industrial members of the Center, companies gain access to the nanomanufacturing facilities at all three universities, sponsor graduate student work, and have options for exclusive or non-exclusive licensing of the intellectual property.

This year we held our third Industry Showcase Day on March 31, 2009 at Northeastern. The showcase featured 40 research posters presenting the work of the Center by faculty, post doctoral research associates, and graduate students working on CHN projects. Samples from CHN nanomanufacturing work were also on display, such as wafer level assembled nanotube wires and structures, flexible MEMs, flexible nanotemplates, flexible nanomolds, MEMs reliability testing devices (chips), etc. The reception drew more than 70 participants, including 26 representatives from companies including: BAE Systems, BlazeTech, Chasm Technologies, Concord Scientific, Draper Laboratory, EBARA Techologies, EMC Corporation, Entegris, FEI Company, Foster-Miller, iNanovate, JM Engineering Associates, Kurlat Ventures, Lockheed Martin, N.E. Clean Energy Council, Nypro Inc., Piezosystem Jena, Raytheon, SMC, and Textron. CHN Director, Ahmed Busnaina gave an overview presentation and attendees received a tour of the Kostas Facility from the Kostas Director, Rich Devito. Attendees expressed interest in exploring opportunities in research collaborations and partnerships and we anticipate growth in our collaborations through these outreach activities.
